I know I had a race yesterday, but I can’t really stop my training for the Half Ironman, I actually went to the pool but it was pretty much a zoo over there and I end up just doing 200 yards to cool down.

The race is finally over, overall it was pretty good I gave everything I had for the day but to be honest the training schedule for the half ironman It was too much for today’s race. Over 100 finishers and a 4th place overall with a 2nd place in the 20-29 yrs division feels like a good result.

the Race;

The swim; So the event organizers decided to chance the swimming course from 1/4 mile to “.45 mile, so something about 800 yards, we got sent about 2 minutes after the Olympic distance did their first lap, I decided to go from the inside and attack hard during the swim, Indeed pulled away from everybody even caught the Olympic distance people and finished with a 8:29 which is with a pace if 1:04.29 per 100 yards!!! (fastest swim of the day by a minute)

T1; A lot of people was surprised because the crazy guy with the speedo (because 75% of the people wore a wet suit) got out so fast and I was not done there a really fast T1 only 40 seconds and from what I can tell that was the fastest T1 during the day, so far so good.

Bike; Official results say we did 9 miles but no we did 12.5, it was a mean ride with lots of hills and the wind during the back half was crazy!!! I keep getting to the Olympic distance people and my bike ride was feeling amazing the way, with a mile to go no contact was made by anyone, solid ride and just with 1/4 mile to finish the bike some dude made contact, However after the Swim and the Bike entering into T2 I was first Overall. The Bike time 36:42 with a 20.4 mph avg (5th fastest time overall in the bike portion of the race)

T2; nothing special it only took me 24 seconds and I’m pretty sure it was one the 10 fastest T2 during the day.

The Run; I had nothing else to give but I was not gonna give up, unfortunately before the 1st mile the guy that end up winning the race went by really fast and I had no legs to answer the attack, second guy comes half way through the run and it took him like 1/4 mile to go away, with nothing else in my body and with half mile to go a 3rd person made contact and passed me. The run time 22:24 which is disappointing very disappointing 7:13 mile pace and thats why I’m so disappointed because my training its been way under that but I guess I’m happy with the race!!! the run was the 13th fastest of the day.

1:08.47 for Total time!!! crazy race a lot of people with nice bikes, wet suits, even tri teams with sponsors it was just crazy!!! love it and I’ll be back next year and maybe to tro to win the race from start to finish like I was trying to do today.

Thats all what I got, tomorrow back to the half Ironman training and probably to get figured out the whole North Mankato tri.
